Plumber Turramurra – Tree root invasion
Amy heard the tell-tale gurgle of a blocked drain as she let the water out of the bath tub. She watched as the water glugged slowly down the bath drain. This was the fourth time this had happened. Last time Daniel, her husband, had managed to plunge clear whatever it was, but it looked like it was back. Perhaps it was time to call in a professional.
She looked for a local Turramurra Plumber online before broaching the subject with her husband. Surprisingly he agreed. He’d noticed the kitchen sink had been draining slowly as well, which meant the issue was probably more serious than some hair stuck in the drain. Amy called the Plumber she’d found online and booked him in to attend the following day.
He arrived on time and began working immediately, investigating what the problem was. The verdict was definitely blocked drains. He would have to use his high pressure water jetter to clear the main line. He looked out the window at their backyard and they lived close to bushland and their yard was filled with large trees. He could almost say with certainty, before he even looked into an inspection opening, that the cause would be tree roots. As he pulled open the cover, sure enough, they could already see a small tendril of root snaking through the earthenware pipework.
The plumber worked hard at clearing through the roots. He even ran a sewer camera down the line to show them the extent of the damage and that the roots were getting in through a dislocated section of pipework. Before the plumber left, he wrote up a quote to replace the old pipework to PVC, which was more resilient, to repair the problem. Grateful for his help, Amy and David promised to get back to him soon with their decision.
